Social Media

As Digital Recruitment Coordinator at Flinders University, I lead the development and execution of digital communication strategies aimed at promoting Flinders City Campus and increasing student engagement and recruitment.

I manage the production of diverse multimedia content across social media, websites, and email campaigns. By November 2024, the City Campus campaign has driven a 37.3% increase in applicants and a 45.3% rise in students selecting Flinders City Campus as their top choice.

Flinders City Campus
A day in the life
Coloured floors

This "A Day in the Life" video was created to showcase storytelling from the perspective of a City Campus student. The goal was to offer an inside look at the campus, sparking curiosity about what life is like
within its walls.

This type of content is engaging because it provides an authentic, relatable experience that helps potential students envision themselves in that environment. It builds a connection with the audience and fosters a sense of belonging, making the campus feel more accessible and inviting.

This video was posted on Instagram, TikTok and Facebook.

The idea behind this video was to tell the story of a detail that might be overlooked by most City Campus students and visitors.

The design of Flinders' City Campus is inspired by Karrawirra Parri, the 'Red Gum Forest River' (River Torrens). Each level of the campus features colors and textures that reflect the trunk, branches, leaves, and bark of a river red gum.

Events near the City Campus

The idea of this POV-style video was to showcase the fun activities available near the City Campus, highlighting its convenient location—a major selling point.

This type of content is relatable because it positions the audience as the main observer, allowing them to experience the campus environment firsthand. It offers a personal, immersive perspective, making it easier for viewers to envision themselves in the space and connect with the vibrant, accessible lifestyle that the campus location provides.

It was posted on Facebook and Instagram.

Student Services

This informational video was created to address common student questions about the services available to them at the City Campus. By introducing a staff member, the goal is to humanize the content, build trust, and highlight Flinders' commitment to helping and caring for its students.

This approach makes the information more approachable and relatable, showing the campus's supportive environment and reinforcing the message that students are valued and their needs are a top priority.

This video was created to promote the launch of the Bachelor of Software Engineering (Honours) Apprenticeship degree.

I attended the event, filmed, edited, and published the video within two hours of its conclusion.

This quick turnaround ensured that UniSA's social media channels remained up-to-date.

This video was shared across LinkedIn, Instagram, and Facebook, and received significant engagement as it was also shared by all the industry partners.

Vox pop interviews with students

During my time as the Digital News and Social Media Officer at UniSA, one of our team's objectives was to invest more in video content and timely updates. I identified the April graduation ceremonies as an opportunity to boost our social media engagement rates by creating and posting original video content.

My goal was to explore different types of content, particularly videos, to develop a campaign that would resonate with our audience while being fresh and distinct from our previous efforts. Below are a few examples of the videos I created for that campaign. Please check the 'Socials' section for more examples of content from this initiative.

2023 UniSA graduation ceremonies

To create content for the 2023 graduation ceremonies, I began by researching audience sentiments on social media and conducting a competitive analysis of how other universities and influencers posted about their ceremonies. I focused on three main content pillars: 'light-hearted' content like memes, informational posts with tips for graduates, and storytelling through interviews to humanise the content.

In addition to visually appealing materials, I engaged with our audience by promptly responding to comments and interacting with user posts, fostering a sense of community and encouraging user-generated content.

As a result, the campaign achieved a significantly higher engagement rate, with graduation posts performing better than 80% of our other content. On Facebook, these posts reached approximately 30,000 users, compared to the usual 20,000. We also saw an extended reach, particularly among non-followers, indicating the campaign successfully attracted new audiences and increased awareness of our social media channels.

'Light-hearted' content - meme

Graduation can be a stressful time, so I decided to lighten the mood with a meme. This was the first post of the campaign and one of the most successful in terms of engagement.

Even when the theme seems simple, prompting the audience with thought-provoking questions can boost engagement. In that post, I used a UniSA opinion article by an academic as inspiration to ask users about a sensitive topic in Australia: the price of coffee.
